How do I cope in the midst of this chaos?

As 2020 drew to a close, I took the time to reflect on the ongoing coronavirus situation. Christmas, typically a bustling and joyous time, felt unusually quiet this year with the absence of big parties and gatherings. On Christmas day, my family and I had a simple dinner, but it was disheartening to hear about individuals in other countries forced to spend the holiday alone due to lockdown measures. In times as challenging as these, how do we find ways to cope?

During the partial lockdown in April, when we were advised to stay indoors and limit our movements outside, I found solace in collecting indoor plants. This inspired me to bring a touch of nature into our small apartment. Not only do indoor plants improve air quality, but they also infuse life into our living spaces. Witnessing the growth progress of these plants reminded me of the essence of hope. In addition to nurturing them, I delved into learning the art of pruning to stimulate new growth. It occurred to me that just as plants require pruning to eliminate toxic elements, I too needed to rid my life of negative thoughts.

Hence, the motivation behind this piece of work is centered around cultivating positive thoughts, particularly in the midst of this peculiar and extraordinary crisis. While we may not have control over the circumstances, we can certainly adjust our mindset.

This is a quote from my favourite book:

“....Now my friends, I want to say this to you. Fill your minds with thoughts about good things. Think about things that are true, clean, right and lovely. Always think about things which people know are very good.. "
